Boiler steel plate ASTM A537 class 1 equivalent grades
Product Scope
GNEE produces ASTM A537 of all grades, ASTM A537 specification covers the standard for heat-treated carbon manganese-silicon steel plates intended for fusion welded pressure vessels and storage tank. It is a kind of low alloy steel that covers 3 grades (Class 1, Class 2, Class 3) , steel plate of these grades are used when yield and tensile strength of ASTM A516 can not meet the requirements of pressure services like boiler and pressure vessels in oil, gas, petroleum industries.
ASTM A537 class1 steel plate typical applications are API 650 and API 620 storage tanks, pressure vessels designed for moderate and lower-temperature service, requiring excellent notch toughness. Class 1 steel is finished as Normalized and Class 2 is finished as Quenched & Tempered plates. A537 Class 1 steel plate shows good cold forming performance, for welding, special consumables and welding methods are needed for avoiding harmful effects of metal structure.
Boiler steel plate ASTM A537 class 1 is completely designed for working in extreme environments. Boiler steel plate ASTM A537 class 1 is best used in chemical applications where any other plates fail. Boiler steel plate ASTM A537 class 1 offers exceptional performances at corrosive environments. It has the feature to bear high pressure and temperatures without deforming.

What is the difference between SA 537 Class 1 and Class 2?
Class 1 is normalized and the tensile is in the 70,000 – 90,000 level. Class 2 is quenched and tempered with a tensile range of 80,000 – 100,000.
What is the difference between A516 and A537?
A516 grades are widely used, with tensile strengths ranging from 379 MPa to 586 MPa. They are cost-effective and easy to fabricate. A537 grades provide higher strength and notch toughness and can be normalized or quenched and tempered for enhanced performance.
What is the yield strength of ASTM A537?
Key Properties:
Yield Strength: Minimum yield strength of 265 MPa (38,000 psi) for class 1 plates; the yield strength increases for higher classes. Tensile Strength: Ranges from 450 MPa (65,000 psi) to 620 MPa (90,000 psi) based on the class of the plate.
