Angle Steel
Steel angle, or angle iron, is an L-shaped structural steel (commonly A36 carbon steel) with two 90-degree legs, available in equal or unequal sizes. Primarily used for structural support, bracing, frames, and fabrication, it is produced through hot-rolling and is easily welded, cut, and machined. Common sizes range from 20mm X 20mm to 200mm X 200mm.
Key Features and Types
- Equal Leg Angles: Both legs have the same width.
- Unequal Leg Angles: Legs have different widths, used when stresses differ along the axes.
- Manufacturing: Usually hot-rolled, but also available as cold-formed or galvanized for added corrosion resistance.
- Structural Application: Used in building bridges, towers, and general fabrication.

Application of Angle Steel
Building Frames and Foundations
Angle Steel plays a major role in constructing building frames and foundations. Due to its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, it provides the necessary support without adding excessive weight. When incorporated into foundations, Angle Steel ensures stability by distributing loads evenly and resisting the forces that could cause structural shifts or settlements. The material’s precision and uniformity make it ideal for creating consistent, reliable frames that form the backbone of large and small buildings.
Bridges and Flyovers
Bridges and flyovers, by their very nature, require materials that can withstand variable and dynamic loads. With its robust nature, Angle Steel becomes an indispensable material in construction. Its resistance to bending and torsional forces makes it apt for these structures that span vast distances and bear the weight of vehicles, environmental factors, and sometimes even trains. The modularity also allows for efficient assembly and maintenance of these critical infrastructures, ensuring safety and longevity.
Roof Trusses and Support Beams
Materials that offer both support and flexibility are necessary in roofs. Angle Steel meets this need perfectly. Used in roof trusses, it provides the required rigidity while allowing design variations to accommodate different architectural styles and functional needs. It can span long distances without sagging, making it a preferred choice for support beams. As these beams often bear the weight of the roof and sometimes additional floors, Angle Steel’s consistent strength and reliability become even more valuable.

Type of Angle Steel
Equal Angle
Equal angles, commonly referred to as L-shaped angles, are structural components characterized by having equal-length legs meeting at a 90-degree angle. Their symmetrical shape ensures uniformity and balance, making them highly versatile for a wide range of applications.
Unequal Angle
Unequal angles are distinguished by having one leg longer than the other, which offers a versatile solution for applications—where unequal distribution of forces is necessary or aesthetic considerations dictate asymmetrical profiles. Their design flexibility makes them indispensable in various industries, including construction and manufacturing.
Rolled Steel Angle
Rolled steel angles are produced through a meticulous manufacturing process, wherein heated steel billets are fed through a succession of rollers to attain the desired angle profile. This method guarantees precise dimensions and uniform mechanical properties, rendering rolled steel angles exceptionally suitable for various structural and fabrication applications.
Cold-Formed Steel Angle
Cold-formed steel angles are crafted through a precise manufacturing process. This involves bending or folding sheet metal or strip steel at room temperature eschewing the need for heat. This offers several advantages, foremost among them being the ability to create angles with intricate geometries and tight tolerances. These steel angles are highly customizable to meet specific project requirements.
