S355JR is typically supplied in the As-Rolled (Hot Rolled, +AR) condition. Depending on specific project requirements, it can also be delivered in the Controlled Rolled (CR) or Normalized (+N) condition.

 

The standard hot-rolled delivery state provides a highly cost-effective solution while maintaining excellent comprehensive mechanical properties for most structural projects.

 

Excellent Weldability & Fabrication

Due to its low carbon content and optimally balanced manganese levels, S355JR exhibits outstanding weldability. It can be seamlessly joined using all conventional welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas-Shielded Welding (GMAW/MIG/MAG).

 

Expert Fabrication Tip: While highly weldable, when welding heavy-gauge (thick) plates or operating in sub-zero environments, engineers must apply proper pre-heating and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT). This controls the cooling rate and prevents cold cracking in the weld's Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ).
