Wear Resistant XAR450 Steel Sheet

XAR450 is a specialised structural steel with high wear resistance. With an average hardness of 450 HB, this wear-resistant speciality structural steel has high hardness and good toughness, making structures built from this steel stronger, lighter and able to withstand shock loads.

Mainly used for: abrasive, exposed structures such as protective pads, shell walls, support and reinforcement plates for excavators, mining machines and bulldozers; cutting plates, liners for dump truck bodies, wear plates; mixing and conveying elements, inclined chutes, displays, machine tools, crushers and shredders, waste briquetting presses, shovel knives, paving and grinding tools and agricultural machinery.

The desired mechanical properties are obtained as a result of austenitising in special equipment followed by quenching and, if appropriate, tempering at less than Ac1. Quenching directly after hot rolling is equivalent to conventional quenching. The heat treatment depends on the chemical composition and the thickness of the material. To avoid loss of hardness, the material must not be heated above 250°C.

XAR450 wear plates offer very low corrosion resistance and excellent bending properties. However, machining or grinding of these plates is not recommended. Although the price of AR450 steel depends on the thickness of the plate.
