AR450 Abrasion Resistant Steel Sheet
AR450 plate, also known as wear plate, is a wear resistant (AR) tempered alloy steel. This alloy steel has high wear resistance and hardness.AR450 steel is a wear-resistant steel with a surface hardness of 420-470 durometer Brinell. It is a high carbon alloy steel composed of many different elements such as carbon and boron. Its unique composition and treatment gives it a surface hardness higher than AR400, while maintaining good ductility, formability and impact resistance. However, as hardness increases, the alloy's formability and ability to be easily machined and welded decreases. Special machining processes are required to prevent work hardening and chipping during fabrication.

Drilling and Machining:Low speed machining or drilling of AR450 is possible with high speed carbide tools. as the hardness of the plate increases, lower cutting speeds and feed depths are required.
Drilling, countersinking, spot drilling, tapping, milling and general machining can be done with conventional equipment and carbide tools.
Cutting: The AR450 can be accurately cut using plasma, oxyacetylene, laser, water jet and abrasive cut-off saws.
Welding: AR450 has good weldability and can be welded with simple procedures.
Forming. AR450 can be cold formed in bending machines or in rolls. In the case of sharp bends, the bending axis should be at right angles to the roll direction or to the cross grain of the sheet. Before forming, the rough edges of the sheet are removed by grinding.
