XAR400 is a special structural steel with high wear resistance, generally the higher the hardness, the higher the wear resistance. This wear-resistant special structural steel has an average hardness of 400 HB and is quenched, or hardened and quenched, to give it a good martensitic-bainitic microstructure. The addition of molybdenum, nickel and boron alloys ensures a uniform texture throughout the thickness direction.
Used in wear-exposed structures, e.g. protective pads for prospectors and bulldozers, shell walls. Support or reinforcement plates; cut plates for truck body rolls. Wear-resistant plates; mixing and conveying elements, inclined grooves, displays, machine tools, crushers and shredders, waste briquetting presses, shovels, paving abrasives and agricultural machinery.

Detailed introduction of wear resistant metal
The key quality of steel wear plate material is its hardness. We sell wear plates based on their hardness as measured by the Brinell Hardness Test – typically 400HB and 500HB grades. If your specifications meet Rockwell testing, we can provide that as well.
Steels with a high HB rating (Brinnell hardness) are suitable for applications where wear resistance is important. The benefit of using wear-resistant steel is that it can significantly extend the life of your plant, machinery or building. This can significantly improve the reliability, durability and safety of structures and equipment. It also helps reduce maintenance costs associated with equipment wear and failure.
400 HB steel is more than 3 times as hard as mild steel (120HB) but only one-third as hard as stainless steel (1250HB). Example uses include construction machinery, skips, bulldozers and excavators, buckets and conveyors. Steel is quenched to make it wear-resistant; it can also be tempered to increase its hardness. Lower HB generally provides good cold bending properties and good weldability. Weldability generally does not decrease with increasing hardness.
