Plate is available in the following three different strength grades under the standard specification: Grade A, Grade B and Grade C.

A tensile strength of 65-85 ksi gives ASME SA204 alloy steel plate its character: strong potential as a high-strength alloy steel plate. Annealing, normalizing and tempering treatments reduce the plate's brittleness, increase its load-bearing capacity and prevent rust and pitting.
