Recently, a batch of S690QL High-Strength Structural Steel plates embodying GNEE Steel's commitment to quality has been loaded at the port and successfully shipped to Dubai, UAE, where they will be used in the local large-scale bridge expansion project. The 150 tons of steel plates delivered this time mark the customer's third order following an initial trial purchase of 30 tons, representing a nearly 5-fold increase in order volume compared to the first cooperation. This achievement fully testifies to GNEE Steel's reliable reputation in the field of high-strength steel plates.
The UAE-based customer is a well-known local infrastructure contractor undertaking the Dubai Bridge project. It urgently required a batch of high-strength steel plates complying with the European standard EN 10025-6. As the project involves the core load-bearing structure of the bridge, stringent requirements were imposed on the steel plates' yield strength and low-temperature toughness. Previously, the customer had terminated cooperation with two suppliers due to the failure of their steel plates to meet the impact toughness requirements. After extensive investigations, the customer contacted GNEE Steel through our official website and proposed a trial purchase of 30 tons of S690QL High Yield Structural Steel for pilot production.
Upon receiving the trial order request, GNEE Steel's technical team immediately carried out targeted optimization for the S690QL High-Strength Structural Steel in response to the high-temperature and dry climatic conditions in the UAE.
As a typical quenched and tempered high-strength structural steel, this product boasts a yield strength of ≥ 690 MPa and a tensile strength ranging from 770 MPa to 940 MPa. To ensure the steel plates maintain stable mechanical properties even in temperatures exceeding 40℃, we added an appropriate amount of vanadium, a trace element. Throughout the production process, online non-destructive testing (NDT) was implemented, and each steel plate is accompanied by a complete quality certificate clearly indicating the impact energy data of ≥ 30 J at -40℃, fully meeting the customer's special requirements for low-temperature toughness.
After the delivery of the 30-ton trial order, the customer's Quality Control Director feedback via email: "We conducted rigorous sampling inspections on the S690QL High-Strength Fine-Grained Steel Plate. The dimensional deviation is controlled within ±0.5mm, and the welding performance far exceeds our expectations. GNEE Steel is the most reliable supplier we have encountered since the project started." Based on this positive trial experience, the customer promptly placed an 80-ton purchase order. With the recent detailed design of the bridge structure, the order volume was further increased to 150 tons.
Prior to the shipment of this 150-ton batch of S690QL High-Strength Structural Steel, the customer suddenly requested delivery within 15 days, which is nearly one-third shorter than the conventional lead time. In response to this urgent demand, GNEE Steel immediately activated an emergency production plan: the production department adjusted the scheduling arrangement, ensuring 24/7 uninterrupted operation of the production lines; the logistics department coordinated with the port in advance to complete expedited customs clearance procedures; the quality inspection department dispatched additional personnel to conduct batch-by-batch inspections, ensuring "speed without compromising quality." Thanks to the collaborative efforts of all departments, the steel plates were loaded two days ahead of schedule. Upon receiving the notification of the container's arrival at the port, the Quality Control Director specially sent a thank-you message: "The efficiency and quality of GNEE Steel give us full confidence in the timely completion of the project."
As an enterprise specializing in the production of high-strength steel plates, GNEE Steel has always centered on customer needs. Whether it is a small-batch trial order or a large-volume urgent order, we can provide reliable guarantees through our mature production system and strict quality control system. The continuous recognition of S690QL High-Strength Structural Steel by the UAE customer not only lays a solid foundation for us to expand the Middle Eastern market but also confirms our development philosophy of "Quality First, Service Supreme." In the future, we will continue to optimize product processes and provide global customers with higher-quality high-strength steel plate solutions.

FAQ
What is the difference between S690Q and S690QL?
S690Q: Minimum impact toughness tested at -20°C (30J average). → Typical Use: Cranes in temperate climates, quarry equipment. S690QL: Certified for -40°C and below (≥40J impact toughness). → Critical Use: Arctic pipelines, offshore platforms, mining vehicles in Siberia.
What grade is S690QL material?
S690QL is a high strength quenched and tempered steel grade that complies to steel specification EN 10025. The designation S690QL refers to a minimum yield strength of 690 MPa.
What is S690 grade steel?
S690 high yield & fine grain steel plate is a high strength, quenched and tempered fine-grain structural steel. Structural steel S690 is used in structures that must withstand very heavy loads. This grade is meant for structures where weight savings is important.
What is the equivalent of S690 steel?
Approximate equivalents
ASTM A514, EN 10149-2 Grade S700MC, AS/NZS 3579 Grade 700, AM 700, Bisalloy 80.
What is the price of S690QL material?
S690QL High Strength Steel Plates, Thickness: 5mm to 150mm at 5,600-13,500 CNY per tonne (approx. 5.6-13.5 CNY per kilogram)/440-900 USD per tonne (approx. 0.44-0.90 USD per kilogram)
What is the hardness of S690 QL steel?
S690QL steel stockholders and suppliers. S690QL is a quenched and tempered high strength steel supplied in full plates or cut pieces with delivery to the whole of the UK. With its high yield of minimum 690MPa it offers better strength than standard carbon steel grades.
What is the effective use of high strength S690 steel in construction?
The high strength S690 steels have an excellent strength-to-self-weight ratio, and they are highly efficient to be used in heavily loaded structures. Typical applications include piles and columns in buildings and supporting members in bridges.
What is the difference between S890QL and S690QL?
S690QL, S890QL, and S960QL are all water quenched and tempered steels that comply with the EN10025:6:2004 specification. These ultra high strength steels have a minimum yield strength of 690 MPa, 890 MPa, and 960 Mpa respectively, making them ideal for use in the haulage sector.
What is the difference between S700MC and S690ql?
The S700MC Steel is basically a structural steel plate developed especially for applications requiring high yield strength. They are used for several load bearing applications. The S690ql is a low alloy structural steel which is high in strength and comes with good weldability.
What is the yield strength of s690 steel?
690 MPa.
Yield strength of 690 MPa. Used in structures bearing extremely heavy loads, such as bridges, offshore drilling rigs and buildings, as well as in heavy construction equipment and cranes.
