P355NL1 Weldable Fine Grain Steels Mechanical Properties
P355NL1 steel plate exhibits excellent mechanical properties, mainly including yield strength, tensile strength, elongation after fracture, and impact toughness:
Yield strength: Not less than 355MPa.
Tensile strength: Typically 490~630MPa (some sources cite 450~610MPa or 400~650MPa).
Elongation after fracture: Typically 21%~22% (some sources cite 18%~25%).
Impact toughness: Not less than 27 Joules (J) at -40°C.

P355NL1 equivalent material

P355NL1, a European standard (EN 10028-3) for pressure vessel steel, has several equivalents in other standards. The most direct equivalent is ASME SA/A516 Grade 70. Other equivalents include DIN 17179 Grade FGP 36 T and ASME SA 707 Grade L2, ClSAss 2. P355NL1 is characterized by its good weldability and high toughness at low temperatures, making it suitable for pressure vessels and boilers.

P355NL1 Steel Plate Surface Quality
The steel plate surface shall not contain cracks, blisters, scabs, folds, or inclusions. Permissible defects may be removed by grinding; grinding depth calculated from the actual plate dimension shall not exceed half of the thickness tolerance, while ensuring minimum plate thickness. Ground areas must be smooth without sharp edges. Delamination is not permitted. Other defects are permissible provided depth ≤ half the tolerance (calculated from actual dimension) and minimum thickness is maintained.

P355NL1 Steel Procurement Recommendations
Confirm application: Suitable for low-temperature pressure vessels, spherical storage tanks, petrochemical equipment, etc.
Check surface quality: Plate surface must be free of cracks, blisters, scabs; minor grinding acceptable if minimum thickness maintained.
Verify supplier qualifications: Choose certified suppliers (e.g., ISO9001) to ensure material compliance.

P355NL1 Key Purchasing Considerations
Consider operating environment: Select based on temperature and media. For low-temperature environments, prioritize low-temperature impact properties; in corrosive environments, request corrosion resistance data.
Specify processing requirements: Select appropriate plates for cold bending, stamping, or welding. For critical welding applications, ensure good weldability and request welding procedure specifications or test reports.
Focus on quality and certification: Source from qualified, reputable suppliers. Require quality inspection reports and material certificates; conduct third-party inspection if necessary. Ensure compliance with EN10028-3.
Confirm dimensional tolerances: Clearly define thickness, width, length parameters and tolerance ranges to meet design requirements.
Furnace temperature optimization settings: Compare actual steel temperature with standard heat treatment curves, while considering feedback values and production rhythm to dynamically adjust furnace temperatures, providing optimal temperature settings for primary systems.
Steel plate entry/exit scheduling: Determine plate movement based on furnace vacancy status, plates awaiting discharge temperature, and heat treatment line instructions.

P355NL1 Steel Plate Application Scope
