1. Solid solution treatment: The GH4698 alloy is heated to a suitable temperature range, usually between 1050°C - 1150°C, and held for a certain period of time to achieve solid solution. The purpose of this step is to eliminate precipitates from the alloy and to bring the alloy to a uniform solid solution state.
2. Rapid Cooling: After solid solution treatment, the GH4698 alloy is rapidly cooled. Commonly used cooling media include water, oil and gas. Rapid cooling helps to maintain the solid solution state, prevent recrystallization of precipitates and improve the strength of the alloy.
3. Ageing: After solid solution treatment and cooling, the GH4698 alloy is reheated to a lower temperature (generally between 720°C - 760°C) for ageing for a certain period of time. The purpose of this step is to re-precipitate the solid solution phases in the alloy and enhance the hardness and strength of the material.
