16MnDR Pressure vessel steel plate

16MnDR is a special steel plate for low-temperature pressure vessels specified in China's national standard GB 3531-2014. It is mainly used in the manufacture of equipment such as liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks and natural gas pipelines in -40℃ environments. In its name, "16Mn" indicates that the carbon content is about 0.16% and the manganese content ranges from 1.20% to 1.60%, while "DR" respectively refers to low-temperature (D) and pressure vessel (R) applications. The typical mechanical properties of this steel plate include a yield strength of ≥315-345MPa, a tensile strength of 490-620MPa, and a low-temperature impact energy of ≥34J at -40℃, with the performance indicators decreasing as the thickness increases.

High Strength and High Toughness: The tensile strength of 16MnDR steel plates reaches 450-600MPa, the yield strength is 320-480MPa, the elongation is not less than 20%, and the impact toughness is also good. These performance characteristics enable the steel plates to maintain stable structural strength even when exposed to harsh environments such as high pressure, high temperature, and corrosion.

Good Low-Temperature Performance: At a low temperature of -40℃, 16MnDR steel plates can still maintain good toughness and strength without embrittlement. This feature makes it particularly suitable for manufacturing containers and pipelines that work in low-temperature environments.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance: 16MnDR steel plates can resist the erosion of corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts, extending the service life of equipment. This characteristic is particularly important in harsh environments such as marine and chemical industries.

Good Weldability: 16MnDR steel plates have excellent weldability and can meet the requirements of various welding processes. During the manufacturing process, processes such as cutting, bending, and forming can be conveniently carried out, and the quality and strength of the welded joints can be ensured.

16MnDR steel plates need to take moisture-proof, rust-proof and other measures during transportation to ensure product quality. Packaging methods such as coating, galvanizing, and bundling are usually adopted to prevent the steel plates from corrosion and damage. During transportation, cleanliness should be maintained, and contact with other dissimilar metals should be avoided to prevent electrochemical corrosion.
