20Mn2 is a kind of alloy structural steel and a carburized steel. The standard GB/T 3077-1999. 20Mn2 carburized steel has medium strength, high plasticity in cold deformation, good low-temperature properties, weldability and machinability. Compared with carbon steels of the corresponding carbon content, 20Mn2 steel has high hardenability, with a critical quenching diameter of 4-15 mm in oil, but has a tendency to overheat, susceptibility to decarburization and temper brittleness during heat treatment. Due to the proper hardenability of 20Mn2 carburized steel, the microstructure is homogeneous sohnite, bainite or very fine pearlite after appropriate heat treatment of the metal, resulting in a high tensile strength.
