NM400 is a kind of wear/corrosion resistant steel plate from China.NM400 wear resistant steel is heat treated by direct quenching and tempering and re-quenching and re-tempering processes respectively after hot rolling. Impact tests were carried out using an instrumented impact tester. The microstructure and fracture surfaces were investigated using a combination of optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.NM400 has high mechanical strength, 3 to 5 times that of ordinary low alloy steel plates, and provides a significant increase in surface hardness, typically in the range of 360 to 450 HB.
