CortenB steel plate is a kind of weather-resistant steel plate, also known as ASTM A588 steel plate. It is a high-strength low-alloy steel with a special chemical composition, mainly composed of elements such as iron, carbon, silicon, manganese and copper. In addition, CortenB steel plate also contains small amounts of phosphorus, sulfur, nickel and chromium.

Weathering steel is a kind of steel with good weather resistance. Compared with ordinary carbon steel, CortenB steel plate has excellent corrosion resistance and can resist corrosion and oxidation in the atmospheric environment. The physical oxide layer it forms on the surface prevents further corrosion, so protective coating is not required. In addition, CortenB steel plate also has high strength and good welding performance, making it widely used in construction, bridges, ships and other fields.

It should be noted that CortenB steel plates have different appearance characteristics from ordinary steel plates. Due to the presence of an oxide layer on its surface, it takes on a reddish-brown or copper-colored appearance, giving the building or structure a unique style.

CortenB steel plate production technology and process:

The production technology and process of CortenB steel plate mainly include the following steps:

1. Raw material preparation: Select high-quality raw materials, including iron ore, carbon, silicon, manganese, copper and other alloying elements.

3. Melting: Put the raw materials into a high-temperature furnace for melting, ensuring that all elements are thoroughly mixed.

4. Continuous casting: The molten metal is poured into a continuous casting machine and formed into a continuous billet through cooling and crystallization processes.

5. Rolling: The billet is fed into the rolling mill, and after multiple passes of rolling, it gradually becomes thinner and reaches the required specifications and sizes.

6. Cooling: The rolled steel plate is quickly cooled through the cooling device to fix its internal structure and physical properties.

7. Cutting and flattening: Cut and flatten the cooled steel plate as needed to make its dimensions more precise.

8. Surface treatment: The uniqueness of CortenB steel plate is that it has a special oxide layer on its surface. In order to form this special oxide layer, steel plates usually undergo special surface treatments, including pickling, sandblasting or grinding.

9. Final inspection: Conduct final quality inspection on the steel plate, including inspection of appearance, size, chemical composition and physical properties.

10. Packaging and shipment: CortenB steel plates that have passed the inspection will be packed and prepared for shipment.

The above is the production process and process of CortenB steel plate under normal circumstances. Different manufacturers may vary based on their own equipment and technology, but the overall process and steps are generally similar.
