ASTM A36 Hot Rolled Steel Plates We Have Delivered:
Hot Rolled Steel A36 (ASTM A36) is the most commonly available grades of the hot-rolled steels which has good overall mechanical properties, is easily fabricated and may be formed hot or cold. Due to the hot roll process the surface on this steel will be rough when compared to cold rolled. ASTM A36 yield strength is also less than C1018.

Structural Grade
ASTM A-36 is a structural quality carbon steel plates for use in welded or bolted construction of bridges and buildings, and for general structural purposes. Minimum yield strength of 36 ksi (250 MPa) is required to meet the requirements of A36. ASTM A36 plate is used in a variety of applications, which include, but are not limited to: railroad cars, trucks, agriculture equipment, trailers, construction equipment, buildings and bridges.

What is the ASTM A36 plate equivalent to?
The ASTM A36 plate is equivalent to grades like ASTM A283C, JIS G3101 SS400, JIS G3106 SM400A, EN10025-2 S235JR, DIN17100 ST37-2, and FE360B.
What is A36 steel plate used for?
This grade is used in welded, bolted, or riveted construction of bridges and buildings, as well as for general structural purposes. Due to its minimum yield point, A36 carbon plates can be used to design lighter-weight structures and equipment and provide good weldability.
What is the difference between A36 and 1018 hot rolled steel?
A36 Mild Steel
The hot rolling techniques indicate that this steel will have a bumpy surface. However, keep in mind that its yield strength is substantially lower than 1018, suggesting that it will fold much more rapidly. So, machining this steel is more complex than 1018 steel but cheaper.
Why is it called A36?
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) designated it A36. The "A' stands for ferrous material, and the "36" is added because the steel's yield strength is 36,000 PSI.
Is ASTM A36 a mild steel?
ASTM A36 is the most commonly used mild and hot-rolled steel. It has excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling and machining processes. Yield strength of ASTM A36 is less than that of cold roll C1018, thus enabling ASTM A36 to bend more readily than C1018.
What is the Chinese equivalent of ASTM A36?
Chinese Q235
The steel ASTM A36 (fy = 250 MPa) equivalent to the Chinese Q235, was used for angles in the bracing system and ASTM A572 Gr.50 (fy = 345 MPa) equivalent to the Chinese Q355 for all other elements, including steel beams in floor systems and columns. The beams have full lateral restraint due to the floor system so lateral torsional instability will not occur.
What is the difference between ASTM A36 and AISI 1018?
With a minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi and tensile strength ranging from 58,000 to 80,000 psi, A36 steel is engineered for structural integrity. It is tougher than 1018, making it suitable for applications where higher load-bearing capacity is required.
What is the difference between 304 and A36?
A36 has a much higher thermal conductivity coefficient than that of 304 in the temperature range below 1000 K (Fig. 3). Since higher thermal conductivity leads to higher thermal diffusivity for a given mass density and specific heat capacity ( ̨ = k / C p ), heat diffusion is faster in the A36.
Can A36 be welded?
A36 is a popular material used in a variety of industries and applications due to being easily weldable.
