In the heavy machinery manufacturing industry, there are an extremely large number and type of steel plates used. SM490 steel plate is a Japanese standard low-alloy high-strength steel that implements the special technical conditions of the Japanese standard JISG3106. The SM in the SM490 model means the Japanese standard high-strength version, and 490 represents the strength of the steel plate.

 

SM490 steel plates are normalized or hot rolled when delivered, and can also be presented in different delivery states according to demand.


Depending on the purpose, the Z15/Z25/Z35 lamellar tear resistance test can be performed to verify the ductility and toughness of the steel plate in the thickness direction. The first, second, and third tests can also be performed according to requirements during delivery.

 

SM490 steel plate has the characteristics of high strength, high toughness, fatigue resistance, impact resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, anti-seismic welding, and easy processing properties. It is often used in buildings, bridges, ships, rail vehicles, petroleum storage tanks, containers and Other construction requiring advanced weldability.
