I. Basic Information

Meaning of the grade:

"07" indicates that the carbon (C) content is ≤0.07%;

"Ni5" indicates that the average content of nickel (Ni) is 4.75%~5.25%;

"DR" is the abbreviation of "low-temperature vessel".

II. Chemical Composition

07Ni5DR steel plate is a nickel alloy steel plate with low-temperature performance, also known as 5Ni steel or 9Ni steel. With its unique chemical composition and excellent physical and mechanical properties, it is widely used in multiple industrial fields, and is particularly suitable for manufacturing low-temperature pressure vessels.

Main elements:

  • Nickel (Ni): 4.75%~5.25% (core alloying element);

  • Carbon (C): ≤0.10%;

  • Silicon (Si): 0.10%~0.35%;

  • Manganese (Mn): 0.30%~0.80%;

Other alloying elements include chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), molybdenum (Mo), vanadium (V), niobium (Nb), etc., all of which are controlled at relatively low levels.

III. Performance Characteristics

Low-temperature Performance:
The minimum service temperature can reach -120℃, maintaining good impact toughness and mechanical properties;
Implements the standard GB/T 713.4-2023 (effective from March 2024).

Mechanical Properties:
Tensile strength: 530~700MPa;
Yield strength: ≥370MPa for thickness 5~30mm, ≥360MPa for 30~50mm, ≥350MPa for 50~80mm;
Elongation: ≥20%.

Other Characteristics:
Excellent weldability and corrosion resistance (resistant to acids, alkalis, etc.);
Superior thermal conductivity, which helps maintain stable temperature inside the vessel.

IV. Application Fields

Core Fields:

  • Ultra-low temperature vessels for LNG storage tanks and LNG ships;
  • Low-temperature equipment in chemical, petroleum, marine engineering, nuclear energy and other industries (such as CO₂ absorption towers, methanol washing towers).

V. Delivery Status

Usually delivered in the state of offline quenching + tempering. For thickness ≤12mm, the process of double normalizing + tempering can be adopted, with the tempering temperature not lower than 540℃.
