What is Sa 285 Grade C Plate?

Sa 285 Gr C is a low carbon steel grade. A Sa 285 Grade C pressure vessel steel plate is designed with an excellent composition of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, giving the versatile Astm SA285 GR.C grade superior corrosion and oxidation resistance properties. The grade also exhibits good resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion.
The Astm SA285 Grade C alloy steel plate is employed in high-pressure applications due to its superior tensile strength across stress-induced systems. SA285 Grade C Plate has good workability and can be welded following standard welding procedures. The items in the SA285 C GR.C are widely used in pressure vessels, boiler tubes, and so on.
A285 Grade C Vs A36
A36 grade is a structural steel grade. The SA285 GR.C Steel plate on the contrary is a high-strength carbon steel grade.
ASTM A285 Grade C Plate shows a small concentration of manganese which helps increase its hardenability. A36 steel doesn't possess any manganese content.
The SA-285 Steel Plates show the presence of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum in its concentration, giving it higher resistance against corrosive media than the A36 grade.
A36 grade has slightly higher tensile and yield strength over the ASTM A285 Grade C Carbon Steel Plate.

The versatile grade possesses excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance properties. The SA 285 Gr.C Boiler & Pressure Vessel Steel Plates are designed with an outstanding tensile strength between 380mpa to 515mpa.
The robust SA 285 GR.C Plate exhibits a minimum yield strength of 205mpa and can be easily elongated by 27% in the system. The ASME SA285 Grade C Boiler Quality Plate is rolled or normalized in thickness between 6mm, up to 150mm or more.
