Difference between S355M and S275M steel plate

Dec 29, 2025 Leave a message

S355M and S275M are high-strength, normalized/thermo-mechanically rolled (M) structural steel plates under EN 10025-4, differing mainly in strength: S355M offers higher yield (min 355 MPa) and tensile strength (470-630 MPa) with better low-temp toughness, making it for demanding builds (bridges, offshore), while S275M (yield ~275 MPa) is a strong, cost-effective choice for general construction, with S355M providing more strength for less weight.

In Summary

S275M: Good strength, cost-effective, general high-strength use.

S355M: Higher strength, better low-temp toughness, lighter design possible, for demanding projects.
