Stainless Steel Manhole

A stainless steel manhole is a safety emergency ventilation device installed on the top of storage tanks. It is usually used in conjunction with flame arresters and mechanical breather valves. Its main function is to prevent structural damage to the storage tank caused by overpressure or vacuum, while also providing flame arrestment capability. It is suitable for atmospheric dome-roof tanks with nitrogen blanketing.

The main materials of stainless steel manholes are 304 and 316L stainless steel, which comply with industry standards such as HG/T21598-2005. They feature excellent performance in pressure-set relief, suction, and sealing.

Key Specifications / Features

The Stainless Steel Manholes is constructed from high-quality SS 316L material, offering excellent corrosion resistance and durability. With a thickness of 10 mm, these manholes are designed for tank shell and roof manways, providing a robust solution for secure access. Available in customized sizes, they feature a Raised Face (RF) flanged design, ensuring a tight seal when welded to the roof top, making them ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications.

Typical Application Industries

Due to the excellent corrosion resistance and customization flexibility of SS 316L, this type of manhole is widely used in fields with strict requirements on material performance and adaptability:

Food and Pharmaceutical Industry: Used as maintenance access for storage tanks and reaction kettles. The 316L material meets food contact safety standards (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 177), and the mirror-polished inner wall prevents medium residue.

Chemical and Petroleum Industry: Suitable for storage tanks holding acids, alkalis, and organic solvents (such as acetic acid and sulfuric acid). Its chemical corrosion resistance can extend the service life of equipment.

Water Treatment and Environmental Protection Industry: Applied in sewage treatment tanks and seawater desalination equipment. It resists pitting corrosion caused by chloride ions (Cl⁻) and adapts to humid working conditions.

New Energy Industry: For example, in lithium battery material storage tanks, 316L can resist corrosion from electrolytes (such as lithium salt solutions), and its customized interfaces are compatible with automated production lines.
