NM600 wear-resistant steel is wear-resistant, heat-resistant and robust. It is designed for extensive wear conditions. Due to the perpendicular distribution of carbides along the wear direction, the wear resistance is more than doubled, even when compared to cast alloys of the same composition and hardness. The substrate of the wear-resistant composite steel plate is low carbon or low alloy steel. Toughness materials such as stainless steel reflect the superiority of bimetallic to withstand the impact and abrasion of high drop hoppers in material handling systems.NM600 Wear Resistant Steel Plate has the advantages of high abrasion resistance, good impact performance, good temperature resistance, and good connection performance.
The designation "NM" derives from the Chinese pinyin initials of "wear resistance" (Nai Mo), while the "600" indicates the nominal Brinell hardness of the steel plate, typically ranging from 570 to 640 HBW. Manufactured through advanced quenching and tempering processes, NM600 achieves a perfect balance of ultra-high hardness, strength, and toughness, making it suitable for welded fabrications and heavy-duty assemblies without sacrificing performance.
The chemical composition of the alloy wear-resistant layer has a carbon content of 4 to 5 per cent and a chromium content of 25 to 30 per cent. The hardness is HV1400-1800. due to the linear distribution of carbides in the direction of wear, the wear resistance of NM600 wear resistant plate is more than twice as high as that of casting alloys of the same composition and hardness.

The production process of NM600 wear-resistant steel plate mainly includes smelting, continuous casting, rolling and heat treatment. In the smelting process, the use of vacuum induction furnace for melting, to ensure the purity of steel. Continuous casting process, the use of continuous casting machine will cast steel into slabs. GNEE STEEL is currently participating in the procurement phase of a 100,000m³ full containment ammonia storage tank project, supplying high-quality steel plates for critical tank components. Due to the corrosive nature of ammonia and the risk of Ammonia Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC), the project requires strict metallurgical control of materials according to EN 10028-3 standards.
One of the most important technical requirements of this project is the strict limitation of the actual Yield Strength (Re) for all NL2 grade materials. To prevent SCC risks in ammonia storage environments, the actual yield strength must not exceed 390 MPa, regardless of the nominal values specified in the standard or plate thickness ranges. This requirement places higher demands on steelmaking process control, heat treatment stability, and material testing.

The project mainly uses P355NL2 and P275NL2 normalized pressure vessel steel plates, which are widely applied in low-temperature storage tanks due to their excellent toughness and weldability.
