Wear Resistant Steel Plates NM 450 550
NM 450 is a wear plate with a hardness of 450 HBW for applications requiring wear resistance and good cold bending properties.NM 450 has very good weldability.
NM 450 obtains its mechanical properties by hardening and, if necessary, tempering. Properties in the as-delivered condition will not be maintained after use or preheating above 480°F (250°C).
NM 550 is a wear plate with a hardness of 550 HBW for applications requiring very high wear resistance NM 550 is available in plate thicknesses of 10-50 mm.
NM 550 is a wear plate with a Brinell hardness of 550 and the same toughness as NM 500. It is designed for heavy wear applications and is aimed at users and producers of wear parts using 12% Manganese steel castings or 500 Brinell hardness wear plates. Upgrading from 500 HBW steel to NM 500 provides a 50 Brinell increase in hardness, which extends wear life without compromising crack integrity.

These types are intensively used in gears of grinding equipment, breaker and knife teeth, and conveyor belts. If the temperature of these materials exceeds 250 °C, they will begin to lose their mechanical properties.
