Steel Metal Grating
Steel grating is also known as grating, steel grating, grid plate, metal grating is made of flat steel in accordance with the specified spacing and crossbar (twisted square steel, square steel, round steel, flat steel, etc.) for the cross-arrangement, and welded into the middle of the square lattice with a square lattice of a kind of iron and steel products, bar grating is mainly used to do the gutter cover plate, floor grating, steel ladder stepping boards and so on.
Steel metal grating, or steel grating, is a durable grid-like assembly of metal bars used for flooring, walkways, and drainage covers. The most common types are made from carbon steel, galvanized steel, or stainless steel, each suited for different load-bearing requirements and environmental conditions.
Types of steel grating
Bar grating:
Bar grating is the most common type and consists of parallel load-bearing bars joined by perpendicular crossbars. It is highly versatile and comes in different variations based on the connection method:
Welded bar grating: Produced by forge-welding bearing bars and crossbars, creating a strong, permanent joint. It is a cost-effective and durable option for most industrial applications.
Press-locked grating: The bearing bars and crossbars are permanently pressed together under high pressure. This technique creates a smooth, clean surface with a uniform appearance, making it suitable for architectural purposes.
Swage-locked grating: This method involves hydraulically compressing the crossbars into pre-punched holes in the bearing bars, resulting in a strong mechanical connection and an aesthetically uniform finish.
Riveted bar grating: Crimped flat bars are riveted onto the main bearing bars. This construction provides excellent resistance to impact, fatigue, and heavy rolling loads.
Other types
Expanded metal grating: Created by slitting and stretching a single metal sheet into a diamond-shaped mesh pattern. This process adds rigidity without the need for welds. It can be flattened for a smoother surface or left raised for enhanced traction.
Safety (grip strut) grating: Engineered for maximum slip resistance, this grating has a distinct serrated or diamond-shaped punching pattern. The design allows liquids and debris to pass through while providing a highly skid-resistant walking surface.

Common materials and finishes
The choice of material and finish depends on the grating's application and exposure to elements.
Carbon steel: An economical, high-strength option for many industrial settings.
Galvanized steel: Carbon steel that has been hot-dipped in a protective zinc coating. This process greatly improves corrosion resistance, making it ideal for outdoor and high-moisture environments.
Stainless steel: Used in caustic, corrosive, or sanitary environments like chemical plants and food processing facilities due to its superior corrosion resistance and hygiene.
Plain or serrated surfaces: Steel grating is available with either a smooth surface or a serrated one, which provides additional slip resistance.
Applications
Steel grating is used in a wide range of industrial, commercial, and architectural settings:
Industrial flooring: Provides durable and slip-resistant walking surfaces in factories, mezzanines, and platforms.
Stair treads: The high strength-to-weight ratio and durable construction make steel grating ideal for stairs in industrial and commercial buildings.
Drainage covers: The open-mesh design allows for efficient water and debris drainage over culverts and trenches.
Fencing and barriers: Offers a secure barrier with good visibility in high-security or industrial areas.
Architectural features: Used for building facades, infill panels, and sunshades, offering both aesthetic appeal and ventilation.
