304 stainless steel exhibits excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance and is suitable for use in a wide range of atmospheric environments and in a wide range of corrosive media.
It can withstand drinking water containing up to approximately 200 mg/L of chlorine at room temperatures from 20°C (68°F) to 25°C (77°F), and chlorine content is reduced to approximately 150 mg/L at approximately 60°C (140°F).
Stainless steel 304 exhibits excellent oxidation resistance at intermittent operating temperatures of 870°C (1697°F) and continuous operating temperatures of 925°C (1697°F).
