ASME SA516 Grade 70 – one GNEE's most popular steel grades, the material is highly sort after for welded fabrication in industrial pressure vessels and boilers.
Used throughout the oil, gas and petrochemical industry the material is a normalized steel with excellent weldability and improved notch toughness i.e. the materials ability to absorb energy when a flaw is present.
"SA516": A grade of carbon steel plates for medium and low temperature pressure vessels in the American ASTM standard.

Delivery Conditions of SA516Gr70 Steel Plates
SA516Gr70 steel plates have various delivery conditions to meet different customer needs and specific application scenarios. The following is a detailed introduction to the delivery conditions of SA516Gr70 steel plates:
- Main Delivery Conditions
Hot-rolled state:
The steel plates are delivered directly after high-temperature rolling on a hot rolling mill.
Steel plates in the hot-rolled state have a relatively rough surface but good plasticity and toughness, which facilitates subsequent processing and welding.
Controlled rolling state:
During the rolling process, the steel plates obtain specific structures and properties by controlling process parameters such as rolling temperature and reduction.
Steel plates in the controlled rolling state have a more uniform structure and better mechanical properties.
Normalized state:
The steel plates are heated above the critical temperature and then cooled naturally in the air.
Normalizing treatment can eliminate internal stress and structural defects generated during the rolling process of the steel plates, improve their strength and toughness, and enhance their weldability.
