1. Introduction
CCS Grade A is a mild steel widely used in shipbuilding, approved by the China Classification Society (CCS). It serves as a general-purpose structural steel for hulls, decks, and non-critical components where high strength is not the primary requirement.
2. Mechanical Properties
Yield Strength: ≥235 MPa
Tensile Strength: 400-520 MPa
Elongation (%): ≥22 (L=5d)
Impact Energy: ≥27J at 0°C (standard)
Compared to DH32/DH36, Grade A has lower strength but superior ductility, making it ideal for secondary structures where weldability and formability are prioritized.
3. Chemical Composition
Carbon (C): ≤0.21%
Manganese (Mn): 0.60-1.60%
Silicon (Si): ≤0.35%
Phosphorus (P) & Sulfur (S): ≤0.035% each
Its low carbon content ensures excellent weldability, reducing the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking.
