What is JIS G 3125 SPA-H Atmospheric Steel?
JIS G 3125 SPA-H is a highly popular Japanese standard hot-rolled structural weathering steel. Characterized by its high atmospheric corrosion resistance and a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa, SPA-H is globally recognized as the ultimate material for manufacturing marine shipping containers, railway wagons, and maintenance-free architectural facades. It is widely considered the direct equivalent to Corten A.
In addition, we provide SPA-H corten sheet metal that is rust-resistant and can make the components thinner and more durable, resistant to atmospheric corrosion, and life-extending, with labour-saving and energy-saving properties, and can be applied to steel structures that are exposed to the atmosphere for a long time, such as railways, bridges, and pylons.

SPA-H vs. SPA-C: What is the Difference?
Under the JIS G 3125 standard, there are two main weathering steel grades: SPA-H and SPA-C. The primary difference lies in their manufacturing process and thickness applications:
- SPA-H (Hot Rolled): The "H" stands for Hot Rolled. It is typically supplied in thicker plates and coils (usually 1.6mm to 12.0mm). It is the standard material for shipping container structural frames, railway wagons, and heavy equipment.
- SPA-C (Cold Rolled): The "C" stands for Cold Rolled. It is supplied in thinner sheets (typically 0.6mm to 1.5mm). SPA-C offers a smoother surface finish and tighter thickness tolerances, making it ideal for lightweight corrugated panels, HVAC exhaust systems, and precision architectural roofing.
